A little late but here it is....
So dinner went much better than lunch, so far so good and we haven't even found out where I went to! After a nice day at work in the sun I wanted to take Amanda (my fiance) out to a nice dinner.I was wanting to go somewhere new and I couldn't deny Fume Bistro after overhearing it being recommended to guests by two separate coworkers. Upon walking in we were greeted by the hostess and the first thing she asks is if we had a reservation. My response to that was no, something I thought about on the way but after checking open table and seeing there was an availability for five minutes later I didn't bother with it, and it wasn't a problem she scooped up some menus and took us right to a table making us feel welcome instantly! Once seated we took a look at the wine list and I ordered a bottle of Honig Sauvignon Blanc (which was fantastic! I'm definitely going to have to make an appointment to go to their winery). The server brought out the bottle presented it to me and pour a small taste so I could tell him it was alright to serve after I said it was great he poured Amanda the first glass, now it may sound silly that I'm pointing this out but it is the first time I've actually seen the proper etiquette being used.
After taking a look at the menu Amanda ordered the cajun spiced shrimp fettuccini and the server, sadly I do not remember his name, promptly warned her that the dish was spicy just in case she wanted to order something else. Now spicy is a word that seems to get thrown around far to often for things that should be labeled mild at most, at least around here it is, so she went for it! The spicy fettuccini was actually spicy Amanda drank more water than I've seen her drink in the five years we've been dating and it still had great flavors and the shrimp in the dish were very well cooked. I ordered the grilled fume pork chop which came a long with some tasty white cheddar scallop potatoes and brussel sprouts. Brussel sprouts?! BLECK! Well at least that is how I feel about them so I asked for the sauteed spinach instead and our server told me that would not be a problem, which I'm extremely happy about because the spinach was fantastic. All I can say is I've seen pork chops plenty of times and this one impressed me, there was a whole grain mustard sauce that went along with it that paired extremely well with the whole dish not just the pork. The food was fantastic and impressed both of us! To finish off the night we ended with desserts, we tried a couple different ones because they all looked so good. The first one was a NY style lemon cheese cake which was good and the second was their 'New Fashioned Hot Fudge Sunday', the server suggested we sub out the vanilla ice cream for pistachio, which was amazing!
All in all Fume Bistro was a place well worth checking out!
